Trainer Handbook
SESSION 1: OPENING
STEP 2: PROJECT VISION
STEP 2: Internalising the Project Vision - Introduction to “Empowered by Empathy”
Note to the trainer: When explaining why the project was prepared, avoid creating the atmosphere of a bureaucratic presentation. Help participants feel the message: “You are at the centre of this project because you do one of the most demanding jobs in the world.” The international dimension should be presented as a source of pride and belonging.
Method: Brief information and questions and answers.
Materials: Project summary slide or A4 brochure (optional).
Implementation steps:
Key message: The trainer begins within the following framework:
“The reason we are here today is this: you care for children who are disadvantaged, in need of protection or living in difficult circumstances. This is one of the most valuable jobs in the world. Research tells us that what leaves a lasting mark on a child's life is the quality of the emotional bond established with that child. This programme was designed precisely to strengthen that bond.”
Project introduction: The trainer explains that the “Empowered by Empathy - Emotional Intelligence in the Care of Disadvantaged Children” project, implemented under Erasmus+ KA210-ADU, is being carried out by three partners: Türkiye, as the country of the coordinating organisation, Portugal and Poland. The trainer adds:
“The knowledge you gain in this room is being shared at the same time with your colleagues in Portugal and Poland. Today you are here both for the children in Türkiye and as part of an international professional community.”
Programme structure: The programme is briefly presented as consisting of six sessions: emotional awareness, crisis management, empathy, social skills and assertiveness. Participants are invited to speak:
“Which of these topics are you most curious about?”
